A Lancashire woman has appeared before Preston Magistrates after she was caught drink driving with her three children in the car.
The court heard that the 27-year-old had been at a children’s party where she had three drinks and did not eat. She was unable to book a taxi but was told she would be OK to drive.
Police spotted her in Burnley driving without headlights, and on pulling her over could smell alcohol on her breath. A roadside breathalyser test came back positive for alcohol.
Further analysis following her arrest found her to have 84mg alcohol per 100ml breath, putting her at more than twice the legal drink driving limit of 35mcg.
The court heard she had only passed her driving test six weeks earlier. She had no previous convictions.
After pleading guilty to drink driving, magistrates banned the woman from driving for 20 months and ordered her to pay a £120 fine plus £85 costs and a £48 victim surcharge.
Her ban may be reduced by 20 weeks on completion of the drink drivers’ rehabilitation course.
