Merseyside Police have arrested a 40-year-old woman on suspicion of drink-driving after a teenage pedestrian sustained a serious leg injury in a collision in St Helens. The incident took place on Friday, 18 October, around 7:30 pm, when a 17-year-old girl was struck by a silver Ford Focus on Sutton Heath Road.
According to police reports, the driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene following the incident, and emergency services swiftly transported the injured girl to the hospital, where she is being treated for her leg injury. The driver was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and has been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
Police are actively seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or captured relevant footage. A Merseyside Police spokesperson stated, “We are appealing for information following a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a car in St Helens. Any witnesses, as well as those with CCTV or dashcam footage, are urged to come forward.”
