A 37-year-old man from Wiltshire has appeared before magistrates in Swindon after police caught him drink driving as well as breaching a court order relating to other driving offences.
Officers pulled the man over on December 3 as they were concerned by the manner of his driving. On speaking to him he was slurring his words and failed a roadside breath test.
Later tests found him to have 54mcg alcohol per 100ml breath. The legal limit for drink driving is 35mcg.
PC James Bryant, from Trowbridge Community Policing Team, said: “Wiltshire Police is currently running its annual Christmas drink and drug drive campaign and cases like this prove why we need to continue to remind the public about the dangers of driving while under the influence.
“We cannot emphasise enough the risk that drink drivers pose, not only to themselves, but to other road users and we will continue to do everything we can to get these selfish motorists off our roads.
After pleading guilty to drink driving, driving without insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, the man was jailed for 13 weeks, due to his previous convictions. He was also banned from driving for 36 months and ordered to pay £128 in costs and charges.
