A Staffordshire Police Officer has been suspended after being convicted of drink driving at Birmingham Crown Court.
PC Thomas Doubtfire, based at Wombourne Police Station, near Wolverhampton, was charged with drink-driving and subsequently banned from driving for 16 months and ordered to pay fines and costs totaling £1,215.
Staffordshire Police Chief Constable Gareth Morgan said: “I am extremely disappointed in PC Doubtfire’s conduct.
“As a police officer he understands the absolute priority we place on road safety and the example we should set for our communities.
“No-one is above the law and I, therefore, welcome this sentencing.”
Staffordshire Police says PC Doubtfire is currently suspended from duty pending misconduct proceedings.
