A Powys man has been banned from the roads after he was seen repeatedly stalling his car in a McDonald’s car park and found to be twice the legal drink driving limit.
The court heard that the incident took place at around 6am on March 25. Police received a call that a patron of the fast-food restaurant appeared to be drunk and heading to his car.
Officers breathalysed the 22-year-old personal trainer and found him to have 80mcg alcohol per 100ml breath, putting him at over twice the legal limit of 35mcg.
Mitigating, Owain Jones said that his client had turned to drinking after suffering a bereavement.
“My client takes this incident very seriously and he is ever so remorseful for his actions and apologises to this court and the public at large.
“He has since sought help from Kaleidoscope to reduce his alcohol and drug intake, and he has sought help from his GP for his mental health.”
“He realises the danger it has had. He doesn’t remember much of what happened, but he is ever so remorseful.”
After pleading guilty to drink driving, magistrates banned him from the roads for 20 months and ordered him to pay a £250 fine, a £100 victim surcharge, and £85 costs.
