A 20 year old driver, who led the police on a dangerous chase, was found to be 5 times over the drug driving limit.
However, it took the drug driver crashing his car to stop the chase.
The driver, Callum Foster appeared at Peterborough Magistrates Court where he pleaded guilty to 5 offences including dangerous driving, drug driving, driving without a valid licence and driving with no insurance.
Mr Foster was also charged with the possession of a controlled drug.
The court heard how police were first alerted to Mr Foster by the manner of his driving.
The police described Mr Foster’s as erratic.
Foster didn’t stop his car when police signalled him to do so and a pursuit started.
During the chase, Foster was seen to go through 3 red lights and reach speeds up to 100mph. This was twice the speed limit of the roads he was travelling on.
He was then seen driving on the wrong side of the road before he finally crashed into a tree.
When the police were finally able to test Mr Foster, he was found to give a result that equated to him being over the drug driving limit for cannabis by some 5 times.
On hearing the facts of the case and other details, the Magistrates decided that their sentencing powers were not sufficient and adjourned the case for sentence at the Crown Court.
Mr Foster received an interim driving ban in light of impending sentence hearing.
