Pembrokeshire Father Caught Driving Over Twice the Legal Alcohol Limit

Mar 17, 2025

A father from Pembrokeshire has been banned from driving after being caught more than two and a half times over the legal alcohol limit.

The motorist was stopped by police, and when questioned, initially claimed to have only consumed a pint. However, a roadside breath test revealed he was well above the legal limit. Further analysis confirmed a reading of 91 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath—far exceeding the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

In court, he pleaded guilty to drink-driving. As a result, he was disqualified from driving for 22 months and ordered to pay a fine of £120. He was also required to pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £48 victim surcharge.

The magistrates informed him that his driving ban could be reduced by 22 weeks if he successfully completes a drink-driving awareness course.

This case highlights the dangers of drink-driving and the strict penalties imposed on those caught over the limit. Authorities continue to warn motorists about the risks of getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol, emphasising that even small amounts can impair judgment and reaction times.
