Oswestry Driver Four Times the Limit Given Suspended Sentence

Jul 18, 2026

A motorist has been left with a suspended sentence hanging over his head after being found to have more than four times the legal alcohol limit on his breath. Krzysztof Katuski, 49, had 151 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped on Saturday, 20 June, in Oswestry. The legal limit is just 35.

He admitted a charge of drink driving when he appeared before magistrates in Telford on Thursday, 9 July.

The sentence

Magistrates ruled that the offence was so serious that Katuski, of St James Close in Oswestry, should be given a custodial sentence. He was given an eight-week jail term, suspended for 12 months, on the grounds that the offence was too serious to be dealt with in any other way.

Katuski was also banned from the roads for three years for the offence, which saw him stopped in a black Mazda in Shrewsbury Road. He must also complete 200 hours of unpaid work. He will have the chance to reduce his ban by undertaking a drink drive awareness course. He must also pay £85 costs and a £154 surcharge.
