Motorist Receives Suspended Sentence Following Drink-Drive Campaign Arrest

Feb 7, 2024

Philip Weston, a 51-year-old from Long Buckby, has been handed a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for one year, after being arrested during Northamptonshire Police’s annual winter drink and drug driving campaign. Weston, of East Street, was stopped by officers and found to be over the legal drink-drive limit.

The incident occurred during the force’s intensified efforts to clamp down on drink and drug driving over the winter period. Weston’s arrest and subsequent court appearance highlight the ongoing issues with impaired driving and the continued vigilance of the police in addressing this dangerous behaviour.

Weston pleaded guilty to the charges and, in addition to the suspended sentence, received a 30-month driving ban. He was also ordered to pay court costs. This case serves as a reminder of the severe consequences faced by those who choose to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Northamptonshire Police continue to urge motorists to make responsible choices and to understand the significant risks and legal repercussions associated with drink and drug driving.
