A mother and city property executive, who was drinking wine at her husband’s birthday party has been arrested after crashing into 5 cars.
After drinking at the party, Gemma Hewes then got behind of the wheel of her Land Rover, along with children, who in the back of the vehicle.
Appearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, the bench heard how Hewes was distracted by a phone call before she swerved into a line of parked cars, snapping the steering column on her vehicle and writing off a Renault Espace.
Pleading guilty to drink driving and careless driving, Hewes also admitted she had asked the car owners not to call the police as she had been drinking.
Hewes was disqualified from driving for 17 months and received a fine of £1,350.
