Drug Driver Caught When Going To Help Partner’s Daughter

Jan 17, 2017

Hereford Magistrates’ Court heard that a man caught for drug driving only got behind the wheel of his car to help his partner’s daughter.

He has now been disqualified from driving for 12 months after admitting the offence.

The 38-year-old driver, Allun Hooper had been stopped by police who then stated they could smell cannabis on him. Hooper was candid and told the police he had smoked it a few hours before he drove.

Hooper was then arrested and he had police a small amount of cannabis he had on his person. When tested he gave a reading of 2.4 micrograms in his blood, the legal limit being 2.0.

The court heard that Hooper had received a call from his partner stating her daughter was having an asthma attack. As his partner could not drive he took the decision to make the journey, which he admitted to the court was inappropriate.

Along with the 12-month ban, Hooper was also fined £140 and ordered to pay £135 costs.
