Drink Driving Trainee Nurse Receives Roads Ban

Oct 16, 2020

A 25-year-old trainee nurse has lost his license after he was caught drink driving to a friend’s house.

Kings Lynn magistrates heard that CCTV operators alerted police to a possible drink-driver on July 31, just after midnight.

The driver failed a roadside breath test and, following his arrest, was found to have 60mcg alcohol per 100ml breath. The legal drink driving limit is 35mcg.

Mitigating, the man’s solicitor explained that his client was intending to stay at a friend’s house two minutes away but had “stupidly” got into the vehicle.

He will now have to travel to his nurses’ training at Queen Elizabeth hospital by bus.

After pleading guilty to drink driving, magistrates disqualified the man for 15 months as well as ordering him to pay a fine of £120 plus £50 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

The ban may be reduced on completion of the drink driving rehabilitation course.
