Drink Driver Ends Up Crashing Car Into House

Jun 17, 2017

Magistrates have heard how a 24-year-old drink driver ended up crashing his car into a house.

The driver, Kieran Merritt, admitted drink-driving after he was found to be twice over the drink driving limit, following his crashing into a house in the early hours of the morning.

The Court heard how police were called to the house at around 3.15am and found the car “resting” against the house.

An ambulance crew was present at the scene and police found them attending to Merritt. It was at this time the officers smelt alcohol on Merritt’s breath.

Complaining of neck and back pain, Merritt was taken to hospital where he gave a urine sample, which showed he had 258mg of alcohol in 100ml of urine. The current legal limit in England and Wales is 107ml.

Merritt told police he had been out drinking with friends, had taken a taxi and then could remember nothing else until the crash.

Merritt was banned from driving for 18 months.
