Bentley Driver Disqualified After Drug-Driving on Cocaine in Alderley Edge

May 24, 2025

A Bentley driver caught behind the wheel while under the influence of cocaine has been disqualified from driving.

Steven Wynne, aged 51, of Ullswater Road, Handforth in Wilmslow, appeared before Crewe Magistrates’ Court on 20 May, where he was sentenced after changing his plea to guilty.

The offence occurred on 5 June 2023, when Wynne was stopped by police while driving on Beswicks Lane in Alderley Edge. Subsequent blood tests revealed he had 67 micrograms per litre (µg/L) of cocaine and 400µg/L of benzoylecgonine – a breakdown product of the drug – in his system. Both levels were significantly over the legal limits, which are 10µg/L for cocaine and 50µg/L for benzoylecgonine.

Wynne had originally pleaded not guilty to the offences on 1 January last year. A two-and-a-half-hour trial had been scheduled before he decided to change his plea.

Magistrates imposed a mandatory 12-month driving ban, as required by law for drug-driving convictions. In addition to the disqualification, Wynne was fined £162 and ordered to pay a £65 victim surcharge. The court acknowledged his guilty plea when determining the sentence.

He was instructed to pay the total £227 penalty in full within 14 days.
