A man has lost his license for 12 months after a drug driving crash which resulted in extensive damage to his relative’s £100,000 Ferrari Spider.
Police were called to attend a road traffic accident involving a single vehicle in Bolton on November 25 where they found the Italian sportscar stationary across two lanes of the dual-carriageway with ‘extensive damage’ all the way down the off-side of the vehicle.
Bolton Magistrates heard that Naeem Patel, 28, had lost control of the vehicle, bouncing off the central reservation into a lamppost.
Patel admitted to officers at the scene that he had been driving the vehicle, and a roadside drug test proved positive for traces of cannabis.
He explained that at the time of the incident he had been returning the car to a relative.
After pleading guilty to drug-driving, Magistrates fined Patel £400, as well as imposing costs of £85, a £45 victim surcharge, and a 12-month driving ban.
