An Alresford man has been banned from driving for 24 months after being caught almost three times over the legal alcohol limit behind the wheel.
Michael Jeffrey, aged 46, of Nursery Road, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, where he pleaded guilty to drink-driving.
The court heard that on Saturday, 3 May, Jeffrey was found driving in Friarsgate Car Park, Winchester, while intoxicated. He provided a breathalyser reading of 96 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath—nearly triple the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.
Jeffrey was disqualified from driving for two years, though this ban can be reduced by 24 weeks if he completes an approved drink-driving rehabilitation course by 2 October 2026.
In addition, he was ordered to pay:
-
A fine of £576
-
A victim surcharge of £230
-
£85 in court costs
The total amount of £891 must be paid in full by 19 February 2026.
