Police Constable Suspended Following Drink-Driving Charge in Swindon

A police officer has been suspended from duty following a charge of drink-driving in connection with an off-duty incident in Swindon. The individual involved has been named as PC Ted Andrews, aged 19, of Wiltshire Police.

The incident occurred on 20 September 2025 and involved a vehicle breakdown on Swindon’s Magic Roundabout. PC Andrews was identified as the driver of the vehicle, and it was reported that a breath test was administered at the scene, returning a reading above the legal alcohol limit.

Following this, a formal charge of drink-driving was brought, and PC Andrews was bailed to appear before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on 4 November 2025. A statement released by Wiltshire Police confirmed that the officer had been suspended from active duty pending the outcome of the legal proceedings.

The officer had been serving with the Swindon Response unit at the time of the incident.
