Milford Haven Man Jailed After Drink-Driving Stop Leads Police to Cocaine Stash

Sep 21, 2025

What started as a routine drink-driving stop in Pembrokeshire quickly escalated into something much bigger when police discovered cocaine, cash, and evidence of drug dealing in a driver’s car.

The Stop

In the early hours of July 28, officers on patrol near Sentry Cross spotted a Volkswagen Polo being driven erratically. Behind the wheel was 30-year-old Ieuan Beckerleg, of Haven Close, Hakin, Milford Haven.

He smelled strongly of alcohol, and a roadside breath test confirmed he was over the legal limit. But that was only the beginning.

The Discovery

A search revealed 4.6g of cocaine in ready-to-sell snap bags, along with £1,400 in cash. Officers later found another £1,500 in cash at his home, plus empty bags consistent with dealing.

When they checked his phone, they uncovered messages about drug supply and a “tick list” of 17 names with money owed—classic dealer records.

Court Case

Beckerleg already had four prior convictions, including two for drink-driving. This time, he pleaded guilty at Swansea Crown Court to possession of cocaine with intent to supply.

His barrister, Hannah George, said he had spiralled into alcohol, cocaine, and gambling problems over the past two years, worsened by family health concerns. She admitted his choices had wrecked his relationship with his partner.

The Sentence

Judge Catherine Richards was blunt: anyone caught supplying Class A drugs faces prison. With credit for his guilty plea, Beckerleg was sentenced to 28 months in prison.

He will serve half inside before being released on licence. For the July 28 drink-driving offence, he had already appeared in magistrates’ court, receiving a 40-month driving ban and a fine.

The judge told him Class A drugs “ruin the lives of users and their families”—something he should understand from his own experiences.
