Highbridge Woman Sentenced for Assaulting Emergency Worker, Burnham Man Banned for Drink-Driving

Two individuals from Somerset have appeared before the courts in separate cases involving assault on an emergency worker and drink-driving.

Louise Gard, aged 34, of Moorland Road, Highbridge, appeared before Taunton Magistrates’ Court on 12 May 2025. She was sentenced to a community order after being convicted of assaulting an emergency worker.

As part of her sentence, Gard must undertake six months of alcohol treatment, engage in up to 30 days of rehabilitative activity, and pay £50 in compensation for each of three assault by beating charges, totalling £150.

Meanwhile, Denis McAleese, aged 64, of Windmill Close, Burnham-on-Sea, appeared at the same court on 8 May 2025. He was found guilty of drink-driving and received a 20-month driving disqualification.

McAleese was also fined £507, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £203, and £85 in court costs.
