A woman has been banned from the roads after she was stopped by police on suspicion of drink driving at 11am.
Witnesses contacted police after they saw her staggering around before getting into her car and driving off.
The 31-year-old student appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after she was found to have 83mcg alcohol per 100ml breath, against the legal Scottish drink driving limit of 22mcg.
Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said: “At around 10am, the mother of the accused’s partner heard a noise outside. She saw her son and the accused. She formed the view they had been drinking as they were staggering about.
“The accused then got into a car and drove down the street.”
When the officer stopped her she confessed that she was “probably over the limit”.
Defending the woman, Graham Basten told the court: “She had been giving a lift to a friend of her boyfriend. She accepts it was stupid to do so and she’s never been in trouble before apart from speeding.”
After hearing the woman plead guilty to drink driving, Sheriff Alastair Brown told her: “Not only was it stupid, it was also selfish and dangerous. You were driving around Crombie and at one point were on the main road through the village.”
He imposed a fine of £400 and banned her from driving for 12 months.
