A nursery nurse who crashed her car into the central reservation on the A50 after drink-driving has been banned from the roads for 12 months.
North Staffordshire Justice Centre heard how Charley Horvath, 23, lost control of her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and crashed at around 4am on August 13. She was stood outside her car by the side of the road when police arrived on the scene.
Carla Harris, prosecuting, said “The officer could smell alcohol. She admitted she had been drinking alcohol that evening and had her last drink at 1.30am. She was breathalysed and gave a reading of 43 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, against the legal limit of 35.”
In mitigation, James Hulse said: “She felt good to drive. A momentary loss of control caused her to clip the kerb. No other vehicles were involved. Had she left it another hour she would not have been over the limit.”
The nurse pleaded guilty to the charges, receiving a 12-month ban, a fine of £275, a £30 surcharge, and was ordered to pay £135 costs.
