Haverfordwest Magistrates have heard how a woman found trapped in her car following a crash was more than double the drink-drive limit.
Connie Elizabeth Griffiths, 20, pleaded guilty to drink driving when she appeared before the court on Tuesday.
Police received reports that a red Citroen had overturned and was on its side in Haverfordwest on June 24. According to Ellie Morgan, prosecuting, “Police could see a young female inside. She was trapped and very upset.”
After smashing a window to assist and bring Griffiths to safety, officers could smell alcohol on her breath. They administered a roadside breath test, which proved positive.
Subsequent testing found her to have 72mg alcohol per 100ml breath. The legal limit is 35mg.
Mark Layton, defending, said: “Clearly the consequences could have been much worse for Miss Griffiths”, adding that she was likely to lose her job, where she was highly regarded, as a result of disqualification.
“Her licence is essential for her to carry out her duties. This is very much out of character for her.”
In addition to the seventeen month-ban, Griffiths was fined £75, ordered to pay £85 costs plus a £30 victim surcharge.
