It has been reported that a 46 year old driver, Douglas Ryalls, was arrested by police after he crashed into a large stone garden wall.
Ryalls’ blood was analysed and it was found that he was driving with an amount of Benzoylecgonine in his system that put him over the legal drug driving limit. He was also found to be over the drink driving limit also.
Ryalls pleaded guilty to these matters and was banned from driving for 2 years ad received a 1 year community order.
He also appeared for a speeding matter that took place before the drink and drug driving incident. For this he was fined £220 and given 3 penalty points on his licence.
Giving s statement, Sergeant Paul Edwards said: “I hope the residents of Elstead will be reassured that we are listening to their concerns and taking action against anyone who is causing problems in the village.
“Ryalls didn’t think about anyone else when he got behind the wheel of a car last year having taken drugs and alcohol. I’m pleased we were able to put him before the courts to face justice for his irresponsible behaviour.”
